My experience with the service department at College Park Hyundai has been extremely disappointing. I dropped my car off in October and didn’t get it back for over a month—only to receive it with additional issues. On top of that, the car was covered in pollen and debris from sitting outside for weeks and was returned to me in that condition. I had to return the vehicle again just days later to fix the exhaust issue. Mike promised the car would be cleaned this time, but now someone from their team is telling me via text that it can’t be done. This is completely unacceptable. The lack of communication, poor accountability, and subpar service make it clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority at this dealership.

The manager at the time was so sale focused that it made me uncomfortable. He was the stereotypical car salesman personality in real life. Weaselly ya know. He talked so much attempting to seem honest and relatable, but he made the transaction more confusing. He insisted on a certain car for me as my trade option. I got the car, a 2024 Hyundai Tucson, pretty new. I started having sensor issues right away and there was an odor of stale cigarettes when the air was on. Once they sold me that car, they did not want to help me any further. I called about the issues and was told to wait and see or that I would have to pay for filter changes etc. moving forward, 6 months later, I took the car for scheduled maintenance and asked that they address the sensor issues specifically. Come to find out, the car was problematic when it was sold to me. This was an issue that did not have to be disclosed during sale, but the sensors were creating a dangerous driving experience that should’ve been considered. The day of my appointment, I was contacted by a manger who stated I was selected to get a new 2025 vehicle and they would pay off what I currently owe. I asked why and he said “maybe because you’ve been making your payments on time”. He knew that this was a sales tactic. I wasn’t special. I humored the offer since I would be at the dealer anyway and the sales people were all so sickeningly “sale’y” The manager that called me didn’t even take the time to work with me. He passed me to another sales person who couldn’t see, couldn’t use the computer and who insisted that he is a good honest salesperson, He had already sold 4 cars, Hyundai is good cars… All BS! I did test drive a new Hyundai that I was interested in, but the lack of attention from the competent manager that lured me in caused me to walk away from the deal. They just kept saying how they would work with me to get me the best deal. It was all seething with dishonesty. I do not want to have to deal with Hyundai sales people if I can help it.

So far I am very pleased with the service I have been getting and the representatives.

I am beyond frustrated with the service I’ve received at College Park Hyundai. My vehicle has been in the shop for months waiting for approval on a TSB. I was told by Hyundai Corporate that the service department didn’t provide the necessary documentation or photographs to get the approval. I had to reach out to my service writer every time for updates, and even then, I could never get a straight answer on why it was taking so long. After finally getting the approval and having the work done, my car was returned to me with no fuel. They corrected this issue only after I brought it up. Even more frustrating, the required documentation to close out the Hyundai corporate claim was never provided by the service director. After receiving the vehicle, the check engine light came on after only 15 miles of driving. When I asked the service department to address this, they assured me that the issue wasn’t related to the check engine light. I went in personally to speak with the service director, and after having the technician confirm that the issue was indeed related, the service director passed it off to the service manager. Two weeks later, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I called to follow up, only to find out that the process hadn’t even started yet. After calling again, I was told that the issue was approved and would take a week for the part to arrive. Here I am still waiting for the part, and every time I call, I’m left on hold for 20 minutes or more with no updates. The lack of communication, unprofessionalism, and inefficiency at this dealership has been absolutely unacceptable. I strongly discourage anyone from bringing their vehicle here for service.

Before I begin this review, just want to say I have not purchased a car yet with College Park Hyundai. That being said, I have visited the dealership three times or so the last few months. The third time I was real close to purchasing, however I didn't because one of the prior owners decided to "bedazzle" the interior of the car...which in my eyes was pretty bad. Each time I went to the dealership I couldn't find the right car in terms of financing or match. A lot of it was just not having the extra cash for a down payment or personal preference. No matter the result, or the amount of times I went, one thing was constant. They treated me like family. My salesman Wali was phenomenal. His effort has been unmatched. He did everything in his power to make things work and was never pushy. Always was informative, up front, and loved how he followed up on occasion. Sean, one of the used car managers was very helpful as well. Kadeeem in finance is one of the most direct finance managers I encountered in a good way. He was very understanding of my being hesitant to sign off on the deal due to the interior issue. He put everything else on hold and waited until the car got out of detail. Although the body of the car was in great condition, I could not move forward. Kadeem, Wali, and the rest of the team respected my decision and still treated me as a valuable customer. I am very grateful for their hospitality.

When I entered the showroom, I received a genuinely warm welcome by my sales consultant Steve J. and sales manager Reggie. It was clear that they were serious about valuing people, your budget and your time. The sales manager assured me that I would go home driving a new SUV with the price and features I wanted. Despite my not-so-great credit, finance manager Kadeem R. delivered a loan offer with payments much lower than I expected! I didn't think I could afford a hybrid SUV. I'm very grateful for the superior customer service and affordable financing. I love my beautiful new ride!
